Professional Experience
Yellowstone Boys and Girls Ranch
Chief Operating Officer (COO) · October 2024 – Present
Chief Information Officer (CIO) · January 2017 – September 2024
Yellowstone Boys and Girls Ranch (YBGR) — Caring People Preparing Youth for Life — provides mental-health services for youth and families, serving over 4,000 unique clients each year. While primarily serving Montana, YBGR has provided care to youth from nearly every US state across 70 years of operation.
The COO role absorbed and expanded my CIO responsibilities. Today I lead:
- Organizational Quality — Improve outcomes using data and stories to monitor and enhance the mission. Foster a culture of teamwork, reduce silos, and collaborate with other agencies and state partners on an integrated system of care.
- Technology & Infrastructure — Direct the agency’s technology strategy and platform: cloud, EHR, security, and analytics — built for mobility and ease of use, so we can provide care to any youth or family anywhere.
- Compliance — Navigate local, state, and federal laws and regulations (CMS, HIPAA, CFRs, ARMs, COA, etc.) to keep the agency compliant while providing excellent care.
- Risk and Reporting — Reduce risk through careful data monitoring, complete mandatory reporting requirements, and focus staff on meaningful solutions to identified problem areas.
- Operations — Ensure the agency has the right physical plant, tools, and resources to accomplish the mission.
- Supervision — Lead a statewide team of caring professionals providing a range of operational services, empowered to follow our values without micro-management.
YBGR has built a strong foundation of caring people. It is my distinct pleasure to work alongside a team of 700+ skilled professionals whose expertise and dedication provide amazing care for youth and families.
